Claude Baechtold uses large sheets of paper, reminiscent of maps in their size and the way they are folded, to show us the results of a very personal photographic selection that he made while on a visit to Iran. Small-format images of street signs, cars or signposts are juxtaposed by subject, interweaving as formal details to create a landscape of shapes and colours. Here the jury is recognizing the complexity and originality of 'maps' being used for another purpose.
