Excursion 1

Les sentiments positivés

with Mathieu Lavanchy and Jonas Marguet
Goetheanumhügel, Dornach

Description
The Goetheanumhügel in Dornach has been of great importance for one of Matthieu Lavanchy and Jonas Marguets most recent work. Especially its gardens with a great diversity of homeopathic herbs were a starting point for a series of photos with the title Les sentiments positives. The excursion in Dornach is a visit to a place of inspiration and distraction, and Matthieu Lavanchy and Jonas Marguet asked Rozanne Hartmann, to join them as a guide.

Excursion 4

Designing the probably fastest running shoe in the world

with Thilo Alex Brunner
Atelier 2, Neugasse 151, Zurich

Description
The development of a performance running shoe is a much more complex than one might think. Thilo Alex Brunner gives an insight into the development process and talks about the use of different materials, the joys and troubles of working with production in asia - about the ambitions and achievements in the design of running shoes in general.

Excursion 5

Work in progress ‒ Studio Visit

with Caroline Andrin

Description
Caroline Andrins research involves the manufacturing process, and more in particular the casting of porcelain slip. Traditionally porcelain is cast in plaster moulds - Caroline Andrin prefers to use moulds that leave a trace on the final object. To that end, she uses objects of our everyday environment, objects that we wear or use.

In her studio these processes are most apparent, the objects she collects and works with are gathered here.

Excursion 6

Evening class ‒ Editorial Design

with Ludovic Balland

Description
As graphic and typographic designer Ludovic Balland works most often on printed matters. 'Editorial design' has become a term to describe such work, indicating that there is more to making printed matters, books, than only choosing type and layout. Editorial design may include editorial decisions, regarding the narrative structure. The evening is dedicated to questions and answers around what Editorial Design could and should be, and what the role of the designer is within this field.

Excursion 7

Rokfor ‒ der, die, das

with Gina Lisa Bucher, Urs Hofer, Rafael Koch
Corner College, Zurich

Description
On the occasion of a presentation at Corner College in Zurich, Gina Lisa Bucher, Urs Hofer, Rafael Koch explain Rokfor, their collaborative project involving research, editorial, design and programming processes. Being developed in, at least, two studios, in two cities, overlapping traditionally specialised fields, the presentation of Rokfor has all the potential to launch an interesting discussion about how these processes of research, editing and design can be rethought and remixed.

Excursion 8

Turning pages

with the Café Society
(Anthon Astrom, Lukas Zimmer)

Description
The Café Society works on the topic of on-screen reading/writing. They create frameworks - rule sets - based on how reading, writing and organization of textual information could work differently. As our daily reading habits change, so must our writing habits and the way we communicate, and ultimately the way we think.
As part of the design excursion series 'Go where your heart is'--for this visit titled 'Turning Pages'--the spotlight will be on Lines. Starting off with a talk on the inspiration and ideas behind the project, and finishing with an open discussion regarding the potential not only of Lines, but of alternative writing strategies in general. If you feel like already joining the discussion, visit http://thecafesociety.org/talklines

Tree-hugging

with A-C-E
(Arnault Weber, Camille Blin, Emmanuel Mbessé)
Bus-stop Montheron, La Râpe‎, Lausanne

Description
As our project grew up in the Swiss forest, we thought it was the time to pay a tribute to it.
Let's meet then in Montheron for a healthy experience. Everybody's warmly welcome.
