Made of Concrete

Körner Union

At the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space 2011 Switzerland was represented by the project Made of Concrete. The Prague Quadrennial is the most important international event in current performance design and contemporary theatrical installations. Following a proposal by the Federal Design Commission, the Federal Office of Culture commissioned Körner Union to develop an exhibit and a publication to present at this year's Quadrennial.

The artists Guy Meldem (born 1980, Apples, Switzerland), Sami Benhadj (born 1976 in Algeria) and Tarik Hayward (born 1979, Ibiza, Spain) founded Körner Union in 1999, creating a platform for experimentation and mutual productions. Drawing from personal projects of the artists who are active at the heart of Körner Union Made of Concrete presents itself as an independent work of art that creates a setting which allows viewers to project general associations and their personal memories.

In Prague the artists presented an exhibit that was solely composed of photographs in reduced format, set in simple white frames. Reproductions of the work of art can be found in a catalog.
